Henri Matisse – Jazz (1947)

Sale price250,00 RON

This elegant exhibition poster features Ikaros (1947), one of the most iconic images from Henri Matisse’s groundbreaking illustrated book Jazz. Published in connection with Louisiana’s 2005 exhibition A New Life, the poster celebrates the late works of Matisse – a period defined by his vibrant paper cut-outs and poetic simplicity.

Although best known for his paintings, Matisse (1869–1954) spent his final years exploring the sculptural potential of cut paper. Jazz combines 20 vivid lithographs with handwritten reflections on art, inspired by music, dance, and the circus.

Ikaros, with its falling figure set against a cosmic blue and scattered stars, captures both fragility and rhythm — a heartbeat suspended in space. A timeless tribute to one of modern art’s most influential masters.
